Repairs to Mr. & Mrs.
Boyd’s manufactured home, located in Nashville,
were completed in May. This case was brought
to our attention, by The Greater Nashville Regional Council (area aging
and disability council) to help make repairs to Mr. & Mrs. Boyd’s home.
Mr. Boyd is blind, an amputee, and
has recently had open heart surgery. Mrs. Boyd works for Metro Davidson
County as a school crossing guard, and also has taken a leave of absence
from TPAC, to help care for her husband. This family is elderly and have
worked hard over the years to maintain their home, but at this point
in their life, they are unable to do it by themselves.
Mr. Donald Shockley of Fleetwood Homes of
Gallatin/Westmoreland, along with Linda Bloodworth, TMHA staff, visited the
Boyd’s and evaluated the repairs needed, and materials required, to make the
repairs. After Mr. Shockley visited with the Boyd family, he decided to
volunteer his own time to repair the home. While discussing this with
Fleetwood co-workers, others decided they wanted to help. We would like to
thank those four Fleetwood employees for giving their own time to volunteer
on a Saturday; Danny Denton, Jason Swindle, Chuck Lee Meador and Jeff
Williams. Also, to make things even greater, Blevins, Inc. donated all the
materials for this project. The TMHA and TMHF Board of Directors wish to
thank all those who donated their time and materials! |
